German for Beginners
German A1 (Beginner Level)
German A1 is the first stage of learning German according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). At this level, learners develop the ability to communicate in very simple, everyday situations and understand basic German used in daily life.
1. Communication Skills
Can introduce yourself and others (name, age, nationality, profession).
Can ask and answer simple questions about familiar topics (family, work, hobbies, shopping, time, directions).
Can express basic needs or wants (ordering food, buying tickets, asking for help).
Can understand slow, clear speech and simple written texts.
2. Grammar and Structure
Use present tense verbs (regular and common irregular).
Understand nouns with articles (der, die, das) and plural forms.
Form simple sentences with subject, verb, and object.
Use basic questions (yes/no and W‑questions: wer, was, wo, wann, warum, wie).
Use negation (nicht, kein).
3. Vocabulary
Numbers, days, months, time expressions
Family and friends
Food and drinks
Shopping and common objects
Weather, hobbies, and simple travel phrases
4. Reading and Writing
Can read short, simple texts (signs, notices, menus).
Can write basic sentences and fill simple forms.
